Under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussain, President of Tanta University, and Prof. Al-Sayyed Al-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and as part of the university community outreach and awareness-raising role, Faculty of Computer and Information organized an awareness symposium today entitled “Say No to Bullying”. The symposium aimed to raise students’ awareness of the risks associated with bullying and the ways to address it.
The symposium was delivered by Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy, Acting Faculty Dean. At the outset of her remarks, she emphasized that preparing successful technical professionals in the field of computing cannot be achieved without building balanced personalities that respect differences and reject violence in all its forms.
She also explained the concept of bullying, its various forms, including verbal, physical, and cyberbullying, and the ways in which it can be identified.
During the symposium, Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy reviewed the serious harm that bullying can cause to the psychological well-being of victims. She further stressed that the university is a safe environment and that firm measures are in place against anyone who engages in aggressive behavior toward fellow students.
Further, she noted that these activities are being organized in implementation of the directives of University President to make the university an ideal educational environment that upholds ethical values and strengthens bonds among students, thereby fostering an academic atmosphere that supports creativity and innovation.
