Based on the protocol signed between Ministry of Social Solidarity and Tanta University to provide a package of services to students and staff at public universities, Faculty of Computer and Information at Tanta University, in cooperation with the Social Solidarity Unit at Tanta University, organized a symposium titled, “Social Entrepreneurial Skills.”
It was delivered by Prof. Randa Al-Deeb, Professor at the Department of Kindergarten Education at Faculty of Education, and Dr. Reham Al-Sawwah, Director of Social Solidarity Unit at the University.
The event was held under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussain, Tanta University President, Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy, Acting Faculty Dean.
It was supervised by Dr. Omnia Al-Barbary, Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Osama Ghonaim, Acting Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
During her speech, Dr. RehamAl-Sawwah emphasized that Social Solidarity Unit at the University aims to establish communication channels between Ministry of Social Solidarity and Egyptian universities to create an integrated system for providing the needed social services to university students. She added that the unit also aims to promote awareness, develop personality, and instill the values of citizenship to achieve social peace, as well as provide psychological support and financial aid to students struggling to pay their tuition fees, in accordance with the Ministry regulations.
In addition, Prof. Randa Al-Deeb, Founder of the Initiative “Raise Your Child Right”, introduced the concept of social entrepreneurship, discussing the key traits of a social entrepreneur and the importance of social entrepreneurial skills for society. She also mentioned successful social entrepreneurs such as Muhammad Yunus (Bangladesh), Tal’at Abdul Hamid (Egypt), Laila Galoubi (Canada), and Ken Robinson (UK).
