Faculty of Computer and Information Organizes a Symposium on “Rationalizing Consumption” in Cooperation with the National Council for Women

As part of its community outreach and awareness-raising role, Faculty of Computer and Information at Tanta University, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, organized an awareness symposium entitled “Smarter Consumption, Stronger Nation”.
The symposium was held under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussain, President of Tanta University; Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty. The event was supervised by Dr. Omnia Al-Barbary and was attended by Dr. Osama Ghonaim.
The symposium was delivered by Dr. Amira Al-Tatawy, Broadcaster at the Channel 6 and Rapporteur of the National Council for Women in Gharbia.
At the opening of the event, Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy emphasized that universities are not merely institutions for academic learning, but also beacons of thought and social awareness. She noted that rationalizing consumption has become an urgent necessity in light of global changes and called on students to become ambassadors of this awareness within their families and communities. She also expressed the pride of the faculty in its productive cooperation with the National Council for Women as a key partner in shaping national awareness.
The symposium featured a distinguished presentation by Dr. Amira Al-Tatawy, who provided a comprehensive overview of the work of the National Council for Women. She explained that the council has branches across all governorates and offers training, legal, and social services aimed at empowering women and supporting the Egyptian family.
For his part, Dr. Osama Ghonaim stressed that the culture of rationalization is not new, but rather the result of profound experiences adopted by major countries over many years. He also linked present-day economic realities with religious teachings, referring to the account of Prophet Youssef in the Qur'an and the strategic agricultural and savings plan implemented over seven years to prepare for years of hardship.
He concluded by emphasizing that investing in awareness remains the primary path to overcoming global challenges and crises.
